Josh Bass biography

Joshua Bass has spent nearly 15 years inside the email security architectures that enterprises rely on, and understands exactly where they break. He led product management for Mandiant Threat Intelligence at Google following its acquisition, managed threat intelligence product strategy across FireEye’s portfolio, and earlier built multi-tenant, cloud-based email security gateways that processed billions of messages. His career began at Belfast-based Maildistiller (acquired by Proofpoint in 2013), giving him a front-row seat to the entire evolution of enterprise email security. It was at Google, with visibility across the full threat landscape, that he recognized the fundamental limitation driving StrongestLayer’s thesis: detection models built on behavioral baselines cannot keep pace with adversaries who change faster than any baseline can update. Josh studied at Queen’s University Belfast and completed Software Product Management at the University of Alberta. At StrongestLayer, he owns product strategy and roadmap, translating that firsthand knowledge of legacy detection failures into an intent-based reasoning architecture purpose-built for the threats those systems miss.
