Walter Goodwin biography
Walter Goodwin founded AI chip startup Fractile while still working on his doctorate in robotics at Oxford University in 2021. The London-based startup has gone on to raise $17 million from Kindred Capital, Nato Innovation Fund, Oxford Science Enterprises, Cocoa, Inovia, and esteemed angel investors including Stan Boland, Hermann Hauser, and former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger with plans for his first chips to be delivered by 2026. Goodwin’s plan is the challenge Nvidia, AMD, and other chip giants with Fractile’s new design that he says run trained AI models cheaper and faster at scale.
