Sam Pasupalak was the Co-Founder and CEO of Maluuba, a Canadian artificial intelligence company based in Montréal, until his successful sale of the company to Microsoft. Sam founded Maluuba with the vision to solve Artificial General Intelligence by creating literate machines that can think, reason and communicate like humans. Maluuba, which has now become Microsoft Research Montreal, has grown to become one of the world’s premier labs applying deep learning and reinforcement learning techniques to solve fundamental problems in natural language understanding. Sam grew up in India and has a Bachelors in Computer Science from University of Waterloo and a Masters in Political Science from the London School of Economics. Outside of work, Sam enjoys high altitude hiking and backpacking around the world.
