Antoine Nivard


Antoine joined Inovia in 2013, and as a Principal leads our San Francisco expansion and focuses on early-stage companies in the ML/data infrastructure, digital health, and bottom-up enterprise software spaces.

He led investments and sits on the boards of Poka (productivity & collaboration platform for Manufacturing), DarwinAI (ML Ops platform for AI explainability), BenchSci (workflow augmentation for life science R&D), and Vital Biosciences (decentralized diagnostics platform).

Antoine also supported the firm’s investments in SMB & enterprise SaaS platforms AppDirect, Lightspeed (NYSE:LSPD); payments issuing platform like PEX; and travel and hospitality companies like Luxury Retreats (acq. by Airbnb), and Routehappy (acq. by ATPCO).

He is originally from France and graduated with the highest honors from HEC University of Montreal.

The thing that keeps me awake at night, in a good way is founders’ ability to create a future most deem impossible. When used to improve peoples’ life, technological change is the greatest equalizer for humankind.

The most overlooked skill in this business is sales. Be it selling to a potential ew hire, a prospective investor or a new customer, exceptional founders (and investors) are constantly selling — especially when the odds are overwhelmingly against them.

Venture-backed businesses thrive on grit. There is always a strong dose of passion and perseverance in startups.

I grew up in a small town in France. I left my country at 18 years old on my own to get out of my comfort zone, to discover new cultures and new ways of thinking. I still have a long way to go on that journey.
